The wonderful comunity of Lincoln, located in Benton County in west-central Missouri, could easily be described as "The Front Door to the Twin Lake Area of Truman Lake and Lake of the Ozarks. separating these two awesome bodies of water is the Truman Dam, at Warsaw. Popular activities at these tow lakes are camping, sailing, water-skiing, swimming, boating, and fishing.
There is available income in the area provided by manufacturing plants and numerous types of businesses. Clinton and Sedalia are just a short commute away and have many large industrial plants. The number two industry in Missouri is tourism. Several small businesses are being established by entrepreneurs, while they still enjoy the life of the country.
Lincoln is located on busy US Highway 65, just south of *-70 and Sedalia, Missouri (home of the State Fair each August) and within a couple of hours drive to prominent cities such as Branson, Columbia, Kansas City, or Springfield. To the northwest of Lincoln you will find the prairies and to the south and east the Ozark Hills.
Lincoln is the smallest community in the state to have its own "grass strip" airport. Plus, a new airport 3 miles south of Lincoln will accommodate larer airdraft. There is a terminal building, fufel service, runway lighting and 3,300' concrete landing strip.
Numerous fishing tournaments are held on both lakes. The spoonbill, a prehistoric looking fish, has its own special season. Bass, crappie, bluegill and walleye are just a few other fish you can pull from these waters. It's not unusual for these fish to wiegh in at 80+ pounds and contests for the biggest catch are held annually.
Once outstanding oddity about these fish is that they are only found in this area and China. Located between Lincoln and WArsaw, you will find the largest fish hatchery in the State of Missouri! This impressive State conservation Department facility is open to the public and has free fishing for 15 year olds and younger with pole and bait included.
The most popular activity in the area is hunting because of the thick woods and rolling hills that cover a large portion of the Lincoln community. Large amounts of osmall game, duck, white tailed deer, quail and wild turkey are all over the thick timbers. Truman Lake is a Corps Lake making over 300,000 acres of public lands around the lake creating a great habitat for all kinds of wildlife.
Golf ball hunting is the most relaxing hhunts, you will be challenged at any of the beauatiful courses in Sedalia, Clinton, Warsaw, or other close towns. And, of course, there is alwasy 'hunting" for that particular treasure at one of the local flea markets or antique shops.

The closest University is Central Missouri State University a close 39 miles away. Lincoln has many churches within the city limits, whatever your religious beliefs may be, you are sure to find a church to settle into.
Lincoln's Hisstory:
Although it was originally call Vincentville after the first resident of the area, the people of the town decided on Lincoln for its incorporation to honor the president in 1869. First surveyed in 1871, Lincoln was considered ideal. The praiarie provided great land for grazing and the ozarks offered plenty of animals to hunt and fish. The stage route from SEdalia to Springfield (Old 65 Ave located in the west part of town) brought many visitors to Lincoln and many of them decided they liked it so much, they wanted to stay. In its early days, the city was reknowned for its saddle tree manufacturing. "The Plain Dealer" (the city's weekly publication) and its grist mills. Shortly after the merchants showed up in Lincoln, families soon followed. The first people to settle the area were primarily Germans, who settled primarily in the southern part of the city, away from the others livng in the north.
